| My Husband bought us this when we found out we were expecting. It worked really pretty well for the first 5.5 months over the last 2 weeks we have had a lot of signal issues. It continuely is refreshing looking for a new signal. I only use it at night, and everytime it looks for that new signal it beeps 3 times- talk about keeping you awake. The beep is now a dieing sounding beep. I am just waiting for it to completely stop working. We have tried multiple of things to fix it, reposition the monitor, move electrical appliances, even calling the company. It only has a year warranty, which was up in december, because the warranty starts from date of purchase. (go figure). We are not looking for a new monitor. Really really disappointed! |

Great product, great picture, no static or feedback. There is a second delay but it does not bother me in the least. Highly Recommend.
I tried the new Summer Monitor as well and returned it after 1 night. Horrible feedback and static. Picture was nice but my sleep and sanity are nicer. |
Graco iMonitor - Great device better Cust Sppt

We purchased the Graco iMonitor a little over a year ago and it worked great, did everything you would ask of it including; a battery that outlasts our son's naps, reception anywhere inside a 3,400 square foot house, and even reception down the driveway to the mailbox.
Yes, there is a few second sound delay and the picture is a bit grainy at night, but looking back on it, we had all the information we needed to know our son was sleeping or not and breathing well.
Now, the real reason for the review is the Graco customer service. While I am not sure how it happened, the parent device broke, the receiver to the power plug came free and we were no longer able to plug in the device to charge it. We went online to Graco and submitted our issue. Within a couple of days received an email from a CSR and she asked a few questions. Finally, she sent us a pre-paid shipping label and we simply had to package the device and send it back in. The outcome was that it was damaged beyond repair and rather than sending a new unit, we were sent a check for the full amount.
All of these video monitors have pros and cons and you can drive yourself nuts reading reviews. I recommend this unit on its own merits and gald to know we have Graco's support. I think we are about to buy another one. |
Gotta say, we like it!

We received the basic Summer video monitor as a shower gift because that is what I had asked for. It had terrible interference...if you walked by, the screen jiggled.
We returned it and bought this. It is pricey but I have been very happy with the size and the clarity. No interference at all. The battery does not last long if unplugged but that does not bother me. There is a small delay but like the another lady wrote, you would have to be superman to get to her in time between seeing her cry and hearing her cry. It is very nice to tote around and clip onto your pocket and if need be, flip open.
I would recommend and have :) |
Lasted less than a year

I had this monitor for about a year. It worked ok for the first 6 months or so. It made a few popping sounds because of interference, but it wasn't too bad. The daytime picture was great, but it was hard to get the base close enough to the crib to get a decent nighttime shot without my son being able to grab the cord. After 6-8 months the interference got louder and more frequent, and the battery no longer held a charge. I went to the Graco website to buy a new battery ($15 with shipping), but I just don't know if it's worth it because we also had to tape the cord at different angles to keep it charging.
I had a Summer video monitor about 4 years ago and it lasted about a year and a half.
I would only recommend this monitor if you're willing to replace it every 6 months. |
Good for 1 year, but you can replace the batteries!

At first we loved this monitor, but now it's dead and we are shopping for a new monitor just in time for baby #2. The handheld stopped holding a charge after about 6 months and started to pop and have static after about 8 months. Now the monitor - when plugged in - turns itself off in the middle of the night. We've tried to plug and unplug in internal battery but that's not helping and last night the monitor made extremely loud noises and officially quit working all together.
I went out to the Graco website and found out that you can purchase replacement batteries for the handheld piece for $10. Type in the model number 2797VIB and the date 091308 and you can see all of the replacement parts for this product. I ordered a new battery last week and so far everything is working back to normal. The handheld is holding a charge and no more crazy noises. |
Broken in box, poor signal, terrible video quality

| We just went out and bought a $35 audio monitor which we're much happier with than this over-priced piece of.... monitor. First of all, the base came broken so we've been laying it on its side. The video image is not in color as it looks in the picture...well, only if the room is all lit up, but whose nursery is well-lit during sleeptime? So you see a black and white picture that's extremely fuzzy. We didn't bother using the video for that reason. So we stuck with the audio, except for the fact that the monitor would lose signal a few times at least every other night and make an annoying beeping sound (and not work, obviously). When it did work, there was a short delay between the crying and the crying in the monitor. (that doesn't happen with our current monitor). Also, you'd think for the price, Graco would give 2 parent units, not just one. I'm surprised others had good luck with this monitor. TIP: We spent $100 or so on a sensor that goes under the crib mattress which detects baby breathing. We found this is more worth the money than a video monitor. Other than that, we check in on him every so often during the evening to make sure his positioning is okay. But that's something I would want to do even with a video monitor. Bottom line is the thing is expensive and they cheaped out on the parts that went into it. |
Terrible signal - do not buy!

I've had this product for 6 months. At first, I thought this was the coolest product and loved being able to see my baby boy at night on the screen. I had a lot of problems with lost signal but I got used to it over time. BUT over the last few weeks, the signal is completely gone. I've tried resetting the camera and parent unit, replacing the battery, standing right in the front of the camera with the parent unit - nothing has worked. I had a really hard time getting in touch with Graco. I would call and the message on the line would say "We have a large call volume right now. Call later." Then it would hang up on me. So frustrating! But I was finally able to get through after many tries and they've agreed to refund me the MSRP. They are supposed to send me a pre-paid FedEx label so I can mail the product back. Then it should take 2-3 weeks to receive my money.
UPDATE 12/23/09: I bought the Summer Infant Slim & Secure monitor and WOW, what an improvement from the Graco imonitor!!! It's the same price ($200), the signal is perfect at any point in my house, and the picture is much better quality. I can't believe I wasted all of those months on the Graco product. |
A Life Saver!

At first Blush this may appear to be an expensive investment, but I can say that for my entire family, this technology has been a life saver, a time saver, and has given us added piece of mind.
My wife and I initially went the 'cheaper' route with an audio-only monitor. After countless sprints upstairs to our daughter's nursery to investigate a noise, only to find that she was still sound asleep, we began to realize that there is something to be said for a video monitor. We purchased this Graco video/audio monitor 15 months ago and have literally used it every day and night since. It is comforting to be able to visually check in on her with out disturbing her sleep, confirm that she's OK, and travel freely around the house. In regards to it's durability, it has been dropped, kicked, chewed on, and every other imaginable thing that could happen to it and it is still going strong. We couldn't be happier. |

| For $200 not worth it. Battery life is not good --video quality and distance quality-horrible. Also we have had this product for 8 months and it is no longer working. Called Graco since it is still under warranty and they are not sending us a new one--I wonder why?? Most likely because it stinks! They are only giving a sending us a check for 119. Still have not gotten the check after a week. So not worth it! |
